Air Date - 10 November 2023
Tonight, we welcome back Roberta Mittman L.Ac, CNC, PLLC, a renowned alternative healthcare practitioner and wellness coach. In this informative conversation, Roberta shares two favorite ways to realign your body and mind toward wellness and balance.
First, we chat about acupuncture, a traditional Chinese method utilized to relieve a variety of health issues and symptoms, such as stress or pain. While the exact mechanism behind how it works is not yet entirely understood, there is evidence that it can impact the nervous and other bodily systems and acupuncture has been shown to have a calming effect.
Acupuncture provided by a licensed, trained professional has been shown to be safe and effective. It can help achieve a relaxed state and encourage the release of your body’s innate ability to combat the stressor or symptom, and it’s also been said that it balances your body’s energy or ‘qi.’
Roberta also shares a detailed explanation of Rescripting, her proprietary comprehensive mental-strength training method. She developed Rescripting with an aim to help clients overcome stress, anxiety, and feeling overwhelmed by leveraging over 25 years of experience in acupuncture and health coaching. How to Embrace Your HSP Sensitivity as a Superpower with Linda Binns
Friday Oct 27, 2023
Friday Oct 27, 2023
Air Date - 27 October 2023
How to Embrace Your HSP Sensitivity as a Superpower with Breakthrough Energy Expert Linda Binns
Did you know that being a highly sensitive person can be a superpower? It means you’re more in tune with your surroundings, like people’s moods, voices, and body language.
Do you quickly pick up on the needs and feelings of others? Do you become easily overwhelmed by sensory input such as a beep-beep-beep repetitive sound, bright lights, and or strong smells? Or do subtle changes in your environment affect you more than most?
Maybe you’ve been called ‘too sensitive’ more than once (or twice)… At least 20% (1/5th) of the population is considered highly sensitive. So, you are not alone.
This week, we welcome Linda Binns, Breakthrough Energy Expert, and HSP Expert, to share the latest research and her own survivor-to-thriver experiences as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). Linda is an accomplished energy and HSP coach and author of seven self-help books, including the wonderful VALUE ME!: Advantages of Being a Highly Sensitive Professional.
Along with her research, personal learnings, and coping strategies, Linda also shares
• Simple ‘grounding’ techniques to enhance health and reduce stress
• How to incorporate and appreciate your uniqueness as an HSP
• Strategies to welcome your sensitivity into your everyday life
• How to share with others what you need and be open to receive
And more including, it’s okay to be a highly sensitive person!
More About Our Guest:
Linda Binns describes herself as an introverted, intuitive, and highly sensitive person who became a small business owner, author, international speaker, radio and television guest, consultant, and coach.
Her childhood experiences left her unprepared to face life’s challenges. She felt inadequate and different from everybody else – like an outsider. Many times, she struggled with relationships (both personally and professionally) until she discovered the right tools. Little by little, her confidence increased. While her experiences in various careers in the corporate world were invaluable, she didn’t find fulfillment there. In 1997, she started her own energy coaching and consulting practice.
Now, her greatest joy is to share and discover with you just how you can achieve the highest levels of success and fulfillment in your personal and professional life. Her goal is to guide you to thrive in your personal and professional life.
Learn more at: https://www.lindabinns.com/
Note: While HSP itself is not an autoimmune condition, it is common for individuals with HSP to have autoimmune tendencies. Psychologist Elaine Aron coined the term highly sensitive person (HSP) to describe those with extra-sensitivity to various stimuli, and HSP varies from individual to individual. HSP is also known as people with sensory processing sensitivity. Sensory processing sensitivity is not considered an illness or diagnosis by Aron and other researchers. Instead, it is viewed as an evolved personality trait that can be advantageous in certain circumstances. Those with a highly sensitive nature often exhibit an enhanced ability to sense potential dangers and subtle social cues that others might miss. A highly sensitive person (HSP) is more aware of their surroundings, such as smells, sounds, the emotions of others, and even the ‘energy of the room.’ This ‘superpower’ also makes them prone to overstimulation, fatigue, burnout, and exhaustion.

Reduce Chronic Pain in as Little as 15 Minutes a Day?
Air Date: Friday, 29 September 2023 at 4:00 PM PST / 7:00 PM EST
That’s just one of the questions we ask tonight’s guest, an expert in the field of clinical pain research, Dr. Afton Hassett, PsyD. She is the author of the new book Chronic Pain Reset: 30 Days of Activities, Practices, and Skills to Help You Thrive.
As a chronic pain researcher, Dr. Hassett noticed while studying established treatments for chronic pain and developing new approaches that exciting research discoveries rarely reach those who could benefit the most. Chronic pain affects nearly 50 million people in the U.S. alone. A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that new cases of chronic pain occur even more frequently than new cases of diabetes, hypertension, and depression. Just like autoimmune, chronic, or long-term pain affects all areas of one’s life, that’s why Dr. Hassett promotes a multipronged approach to pain self-management.
Research shows that simple, at-home changes, including effective and easy-to-implement habits such as paced breathing, easy sleep hacks, mindful walking, and even acts of kindness and gratitude, have been shown to reduce pain. Dr. Hassett shares with us a broader definition of chronic pain and how to implement several of her ’30-Days’ activities and strategies, including:
• How a pink Piggy Bank can change outcomes – yes, a real piggy bank…
• How the medical community defines chronic pain and how it relates to autoimmune conditions such as fibromyalgia and arthritis
• What neuroscience is now telling us about how our brain relates to pain
• How using the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy reduces long-term pain
• Why doing simple activities that you enjoy and make life feel worth living is an excellent way to decrease pain, plus much more…
About Out Guest:
Viewed as a leader in the field of chronic pain and resilience, Dr. Afton L. Hassett, PsyD, is an Associate Professor and Director of Pain and Opioid Research in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan. She is a principal investigator at the Chronic Pain & Fatigue Research Center with research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She was the Keynote address at the 2023 Pain Consortium Symposium on Advances in Pain Research for the NIH. Dr. Hassett and her book Chronic Pain Reset brings evidence-based strategies from research and academic medical settings directly to people who live with chronic pain with the hope that they will gain new tools to lead more rewarding lives with less pain.

From Eco-Anxiety to Action: Ten+ Ways to Cope with Wildfire Smoke When You Have An Autoimmune Disease with Dr. Jenny Tufenkian, ND
Air Date Friday, August 25, 2023, at 4:00 PM PST / 7:00 PM EST
We welcome back Dr. Jenny Tufenkian, ND, to chat about Eco-Anxiety, especially our reaction to rapid changes like wildfire smoke. Eco-anxiety seems self-explanatory, yet that was a word I was unfamiliar with until I read Dr. Jenny’s recent newsletter where she, to quote her, said, “My PTSD got triggered this weekend. [wildfire smoke] I realized my subconscious mind went down the ‘uh-oh’ it’s back …” and as she shared with us had to implement her own tips and tools to keep from ‘awfulizing’ it!
Environmental crises can trigger powerful emotions and physical stressors, even when we are far away and safe. Dr. Jenny shares ways to cope and create resilience, plus
• Practical tips to reduce your exposure to environmental toxins,
• How to overcome the feeling of helplessness and take positive action,
• Helpful ways to calm your nervous system when you’re caught off guard,
• The impact of smoke on physical and mental health plus so much more…
