The Order of the Sacred Earth – A Truly NEW World Order to Help Us Overgrow the “Old World Odor”
An Interview with Sacred Order Co-Founders Skylar Wilson and Jennifer Berit Listug
“Earth — love it or leave it.” — Swami Beyondananda
“I promise to be the best lover and defender of the Earth that I can be.”
Can taking such a vow make a difference?
Skylar Wilson and Jennifer Berit Listug, our guests on Wiki Politiki this week think so. They, along with Matthew Fox, the noted priest and father of Creation Spirituality, have founded a “spiritual order” for our times, the Order of the Sacred Earth.
I am reminded of a famous Gandhi quote. When asked what he thought of Western Civilization, he replied, “I think it would be a very good idea.”
While our civilization has excelled at science, technology, and the gleaning of material knowledge, we seem to be on the verge of flunking Wisdom 1.1. Ever since we put Descartes before the horse nearly four centuries ago, society has focused its attention on the material world as the be-all and end-all. And the “end-all” idea may be exactly where we are headed.
Thanks to focus on the rational mind at the expense of the intuitive, and the patriarchal notion of man “dominating” nature, we have continued to act as if that’s true, at our peril. As Paul Ehrlich famously said, “Nature bats last,” and she has some heavy hitters coming up — fire, tornadoes, hurricanes and floods. At a time when precious little is considered sacred anymore, and when we humans have spiraled dangerously outside the web of life, the intention of the Order of the Sacred Earth is to unite spirit and matter in one movement. As they write:
At this critical time in human and planetary history, the world does not need a new religion or even a reshuffling of our old religions. It does not need a new church either. What it needs is a new Order: a community and movement of people of varied belief systems (or non-belief systems) who share one sacred vow: to preserve Mother Earth and to become the best lovers (mystics) and defenders (warriors) they can be on behalf of Mother Earth. A post-denominational Order and a post-religious Order. Therefore, a Spiritual Order.
And yet another quote, this one from Albert Einstein: “The field is the sole governing agency over the particle.” Most social change movements have been about moving the “particle” — working on the symptoms of issues rather than facing and confronting the “field” — of beliefs, misperceptions and institutions — that “move” the particles of our every day activity.
If a spiritual order that holds Earth sacred seems like a “tall order”, it may be the one thing to cohere a movement of movements so that collectively we shift from “takers” to “givers”, from exploiters to stewards, from alienated individuals to loving community.
Can a “spiritual order” help spark and empower a truly NEW world order? Join us this Tuesday, November 13th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/ to find out.

Donald Trump Is Awakening People, Left and Right

Donald Trump Is Awakening People, Left and Right
An Interview with Dr. Chuck Baldwin, Moral Majority and Christian Coalition Pioneer, and Constitutional Party Presidential Candidate in 2008
“Either we will have an awakening — or a wake.” — Swami Beyondananda
In the summer of 2015, I was waiting to board the Larkspur Ferry to take me to San Francisco for a Giants game. In the waiting area, there was a huge TV screen tuned to CNN. Donald Trump was on, and the sound was off.
As I watched Trump’s gesticulation, facial expressions, and fist pumping, I looked at a fellow passenger, and we both said it at the same time — Adolf Hitler.
Now more than three years later, I have seen nothing to make me think otherwise. What was clear to me then is even clearer now. What I was looking at was a megalomaniacal sociopath, who would do anything and say anything to benefit himself, and who would ultimately destroy whatever he touched. I saw a pathological liar and demagogue, with no respect for the rule of law — or the rule of love.
While we have seen “dishonest” politicians before, and those involved in deep, dark misdoings, what I was looking at was someone entirely different and more sinister — someone who had the mindset and the chutzpah to make himself dictator. You might laugh at this individual who has been parodied and caricatured as a bumbling fool. They laughed at Hitler too. While Donald Trump is no “Hitler” in the sense that he has no overriding mission or ideology, his rhetoric landed with the same kinds of ordinary folks who supported Hitler.
At the Unrig the System conference in New Orleans this past February, I met a number of (oxymoron alert) “moderate Republicans” who saw the clear and present danger not just in Trump, but in the Vichy Republicans in Congress blindly following him. I met Richard Painter, a former Bush administration official who has officially changed parties and became a Democrat running for the Senate in Minnesota. Since that time he has been joined by Republicans Steve Schmidt and most recently Max Boot, who exhorted moderate Republicans to vote Democrat this year in an attempt to stop that other “boot” — Jack Boot — from having control of all three branches of government and establishing a de facto fascist regime.
Something that has been both puzzling and vexing to most observers, however, is how so many Evangelical Christians have fallen into lockstep behind Trump, despite the man’s — to put it too gently — “moral failings.”
Our guest on Wiki Politiki this week has the perspective and background to speak to this issue. Dr. Chuck Baldwin is a conservative Christian minister, a disciple of Jerry Falwell and a founder of the Christian Coalition. After becoming a Republican in 1980 to support Ronald Reagan, he left the party during the George W. Bush presidency to join Ron Paul’s Constitution Party. Without compromising his conservative ideas — he is a Second Amendment advocate who believes in “open carry” — he offers his view of how and why the majority of his cohorts have taken the wrong road, and have become in his words “infatuated with” Donald Trump, whom he sees as an enemy of freedom, and everything the United States stands for.
On this very significant Election Day, which will — rightly or not — be an up or down vote for Donald Trump, tune into this highly-unusual interview and you’ll be encouraged that the “great upwising” and awakening is occurring on all sides.

Can The Heart of the Goddess Help Us Overgrow the Dark of Heartlessness?

Can The Heart of the Goddess Help Us Overgrow the Dark of Heartlessness?
An Interview with Hallie Igelhart Austen, Author of The Heart of the Goddess: Art, Myth and Meditations of the World’s Sacred Feminine
“Time to replace rule by the scared masculine with the sacred feminine.” — Swami Beyondananda
If there’s been any awakening in the wake of the 2016 election, it’s been the awakening of women’s power, and more recently, the Sacred Feminine. As we are more and more coming to understand, this is not just about boys and girls, boys and girls.
The sacred feminine — as with matriarchal societies in the ancient world — is not about the feminine dominating over the masculine, but rather a co-equal partnership where there IS NO domination, bullying, violence or exploitation.
And, the dominate-or-be-dominated meme that has characterized Western so-called civilization for millennia is a direct result of the absence of the sacred feminine. Consider how different our nation (and world) would be if our Founding Fathers had including Founding Mothers, if in adapting and adopting the Iroquois Nations’ political system, they had included the Council of Grandmothers along with balance of powers and a federal system?
In the Iroquois Nation, after all, it was the elder women who decided if and when the nation went to war, and they also could impeach an unscrupulous or incompetent chief. But because in 1787 it was culturally impossible to give Martha, Abigail, Dolley or Betsy a seat at the council, we are paying the price today. We have a heartless, mechanistic system that utterly discounts and misunderstands the feminine, and is bent on the four E’s of Evil — extraction, exploitation, extortion and extinction.
No individual is to blame for any of this. Most humans on the planet want the same things — clean air, clean water, clean food, clean government, respect for one another and the natural world. But because there is no over-arching context or movement speaking to this one fundamental issue, we have been at the merciless mercy of “might makes right.”
Our guest this week on Wiki Politiki, Hallie Igelhart Austen, author of The Heart of the Goddess: Art, Myth and Meditations of the World’s Sacred Feminine, offers insight and encouragement for renewing and re-establishing the wisdom of the Goddess in our lives and world.
Hallie Iglehart Austen grew up on a farm and has lived close to the earth for most of her life. Her lifelong interest in goddesses began at the age of twelve when she started studying ancient Greek language and mythology at Bryn Mawr School. After graduating from Brown University, she drove from England to Nepal and back again over the course of a year. This journey, described in her book, Womanspirit, led to her synthesis of spirituality and feminism, which she first started teaching in 1974. She has led workshops, rituals and conferences at the University of California, United Nations International Women’s Conference, and Graduate Theological Union among others. She created Womanspirit Meditations and collected worldwide Goddess art, myth and meditations in her book, The Heart of the Goddess.
What can we learn from the ancient art depicting the Goddess and life in a matriarchal culture? How can men relate to and use this wisdom? How do we bring these understandings to the here-and-now, to inspire and unite us at a critical time?

De-Programming and Re-Programming the Hidden Brain – From Hopelessness and Helplessness to Wisdom and Compassion
An Interview with Barry and Gayla Gordon, Authors of “Scientific Shamanic Healing”
“The sociopathogens in our body politic are trying to convince us that their inhuman nature is our ‘human nature’.” — Swami Beyondananda
What our friend and colleague Caroline Casey calls “the dementors of doom” seem to be able to access the inner psyche of the masses to create fear, suspicion and chaos. “Thanks” to the work Edward Bernays began a century ago (Bernays, the nephew of Sigmund Freud was known as the “Father of Public Relations” and wrote a book titled simply “Propaganda”) those who wish to program our minds to serve their own ends, now have more sophisticated ways than ever to do so.
No wonder so many people who can envision what Charles Eisenstein calls “the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible” are disheartened and alarmed by “the more ugly world” the current political order is making possible.
Our guests this week, Barry and Gayla Gordon are lifetime students of consciousness, energy medicine, and our true “human potential. Barry is a physicist, metaphysicist, Feng Shui Master, senior Buddhist teacher in the Tibetan/Chinese Bon tradition, and advanced Energy Psychology coach. Gayla Gordon is a creative visionary, Feng Shui master, Sufi Cheraga, Doctor of Divinity, “minister of mirth” and advanced Energy Psychology coach. They are world travelers, who have studied and immersed themselves in a variety of spiritual traditions. Barry is a former US Navy officer whose near-death experience as a diver transformed his life, and has given him the tools to help others with PTSD.
This enlightening and empowering conversation will not only offer insight into our current political crisis, it will offer us creative ways to take advantage of the opportunity. You’ll also discover ways to re-program your own “hidden brain”, resolve inner conflicts and move beyond hopelessness and helplessness to find your own purpose and power. You’ll also gain insight and perspective as to how to “respond” to current events rather than “react” to them.
Someone once said that all politics is personal, and someone else said, “the personal is political”. This conversation will prove both of them right.

From #METOO To #WETOO – Turning Sacred Feminine and Sacred Masculine Into Dynamic Duo Dance Partners
An Interview with “Sacred Feminine Awakening” Author Misa Hopkins
“We need to shift focus from the ‘identity issues’ that keep us separate to the IDENTICAL ISSUES that unite us — clean air, clean water, clean food and clean government.” — Swami Beyondananda
While Brett Kavanaugh was rightfully outed as a privileged, self-entitled, frat-rat sexual predator, as usual the Democrats stopped short of seeing the big, big picture — that the abuse of women, abuse of power, abuse of wealth and abuse of the natural world is all traceable to a Papal Bull issued in the 1450’s known as the “Doctrine of Discovery“.
This document (you can hear more in the Wiki interview with Steven Newcomb and Shawna Bluestar linked above) essentially gave “white male Christians” the “official” MANdate to dominate, exploit, subjugate, enslave and kill all nonwhite non-“Christians” and take their lands. Hard as it is to believe, this document that is more than 500 years old has been used by our own US Supreme Court to justify abrogating treaties with Native peoples!
Our guest this week, Misa Hopkins is an advocate for the “sacred feminine” who appreciates — thanks to her own Native American ancestry and connections with indigenous peoples worldwide — not just the exploitation and domination of women and women’s wisdom, but the exploitation of and extraction from the natural world.
Misa Hopkins is the author of the bestselling book series, Sacred Feminine Awakening, and is the Spiritual Director at SacredFeminineAwakening.com. The Guardian of a Sacred Native Path in the Feminine, she has had mystical initiations in feminine and masculine energies, and has been given the sacred names Amma (Mother) and Morning Star (Venus). Misa’s life and work is dedicated to facilitating the personal and planetary healing that comes with Sacred Feminine awareness.
Her mission is to help women find their sacred feminine AND facilitate men finding their own spiritual identity so that instead of the “he said / she said” yelling matches on the battlefield, the sacred feminine and sacred masculine work together as dynamic duo dance partners.
Misa offers insight into how women are awakening to a deeper identity than is offered by contemporary feminism, and how these new ways of thinking, feeling and experiencing are impacting relationships with men. This awakening has led women to embrace new priorities that go far beyond the #METOO domain.
She and her partner Jeff Burger were living in Charlottesville at the time of the protest riots last year, and she has a unique and comprehensive perspective on what really happened — and the misunderstandings that led to the death of Heather Heyer, who was protesting the alt right rally.

Cultivating BOLD HUMILITY Hope, Democracy and Rethinking Fear and Courage
An Interview with Author and “Daring Democracy” Advocate Frances Moore Lappé
“Of course love is more powerful than fear. Otherwise we’d be singing ‘All You Need is Fear’.” — Swami Beyondananda
Ever since the disillusionment of Obama’s failed promise, hope has been given a bad rap. Hope has been considered a form of passivity, as a substitute for intention, activism, hard choices. Our guest this week, noted author Frances Moore Lappé believes that cultivating hope also cultivates grace and possibility.
Frances Moore Lappé first gained worldwide fame with the release of her three-million copy Diet for a Small Planet, which the Smithsonian has described as “one of the most influential political tracts of the times.” Her nineteenth book, Daring Democracy: Igniting Power, Meaning, and Connection for the America We Want, coauthored with Adam Eichen, “extends concrete hope to those who feel politically helpless,” notes the American Library Association’s Booklist. She speaks widely on campuses from Harvard to UC Berkeley, as well as to professional organizations.
Frances enables us to shift our “mental maps” so we can each experience a sense of agency, meaning and connection with others, as together we bring democratic values to life. She offers hope by sharing solution stories in which regular citizens are helping to meet our biggest social and environmental challenges.
In 1987, Frances became the fourth American to receive the international Right Livelihood Award, often called the “Alternative Nobel”; and Gourmet Magazine named her one of 25 people, including Thomas Jefferson, Upton Sinclair, and Julia Child, whose work has changed the way America eats. Frances’ books have been translated into 15 languages and are used widely in university courses. Her visiting-scholar positions include those at MIT, UC Berkeley, Suffolk University, and Colby College.
Her writings have appeared in O: The Oprah Magazine, Harper’s, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation, People, and more. She is a contributing editor at Yes! Magazine, and Solutions Journal. Her blogs have appeared in Huffington Post, AlterNet, Common Dreams, and more.
Frances currently leads the Small Planet Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, founded in 2002 with her daughter Anna Lappé. The two also cofounded the Small Planet Fund.
Please join us for this lively, informative and encouraging conversation that will have you thinking differently about hope, fear, courage and humility. “Frankie” will be talking about her recent book, Daring Democracy, and the tools people have been developing and cultivating “under the radar” … as well as the hidden energy in fear and how to use it constructively. At a time when we as individuals and a species face the unknown, she offers compelling evidence of how “not knowing” may be the key to our survival.
If you were inspired by Diet For A Small Planet, and want more nourishing “food for thought” from its author, please join us this Tuesday, October 9th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/

Eastern Spirituality and Political Evolution
An Interview with Meditation Teacher and Author Philip Goldberg
“Bob Dylan was wrong. You DO need a Veda man to know which way the wind blows.” — Swami Beyondananda
Ever since the era of the “moral majority” and the Christian Coalition, we have seen how religion can impact our political conversations, and national destiny. But what about those “other” religions that come from the East? Our guest this week, Philip Goldberg, is an expert on how and why Americans have flocked to Eastern religions over the past half-century, and the impact this migration has had on our national consciousness.
He speaks from experience. Growing up in a non-religious Jewish-Marxist household, Philip found his own way to spirituality by becoming a student of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and a teacher of Transcendental Meditation. His book American Veda: From Emerson and the Beatles to Yoga and Meditation, How Indian Spirituality Changed the West offers a rich account of his own spiritual development, and an enlightening history of how the Vedic tradition and “perennial wisdom” developed in the wake of the transcendentalist movement in the 1800s.
His latest book is a comprehensive biography of Paramahansa Yogananda titled The Life of Yogananda: The Story of the Yogi Who Became the First Modern Guru. Philip is also a meditation teacher and ordained Interfaith Minister, and also the cohost of the popular Spirit Matters podcast and leads American Veda Tours to India.
Philip and I have another interesting connection that dates back to before we knew one another. We both attended John Marshall Junior High in Brooklyn, a school notorious as one of the “worst” in New York City, where the principal actually took his own life in despair about crime at his school. He and I also share a common spiritual tradition from our childhood. No, not Judaism — the Brooklyn Dodgers. In addition to his well-researched works on Eastern spirituality in America, he is the author of an autobiographical novel about the year the Brooklyn Dodgers won the World Series, “This Is Next Year.”
If you’re curious about how Eastern wisdom can inform our current political “shituation” and enjoyed reading Autobiography of a Yogi back in the day, you’ll appreciate Philip going deeper into how and why Yogananda came to the U.S., his reception here, and his enduring influence.
As an indication of where Philip is coming from, here is a quote from his website:
“American democracy can flourish only when citizens are united, at a deep level that transcends ideology, race, and class, to a shared spiritual and moral vision of what America should be.”
If you recognize that the heart and soul of who we are includes and transcends both religion and non-religion, please join us this Tuesday, October 2nd at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. : http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/

The “Self-Health” Movement
From Conventional to “Preventional” Medicine An Interview with Author and Holistic Medical Pioneer Dr. Elson Haas
“Our entire body politic suffers from irony deficiency. Seeing a doctor won’t help, but seeing a paradox will. So here’s an irony supplement to munch on. The third leading cause of death in the US is medicine itself.” — Swami Beyondananda
In these strange times when it’s hard to tell real fake news from fake real news, there are a lot of mixed messages coming from the health care domain. On one hand, we have big pharma and mainstream medicine promoting drugs and surgery. On the other, there are countless old and new ways to impact not just the linear activity of our cells, but also the “field” that determines how our cells behave.
Getting the right distinctions can be literally a life or death decision.
Our guest this week, Dr. Elson Haas, helps us sort through the hype and mythology and find out which approaches are best for you. With over 40 years of experience pursuing both mainstream and complementary medicine, Dr. Haas has been a pioneer in the “self-health” movement that helps individuals take charge of their own wellbeing.
Dr. Elson Haas has been bridging the worlds of mainstream and alternative medicine his entire career. He is an integrative family medicine practitioner with more than 40 years of experience as a physician. He is founder and director of Preventive Medical Center of Marin, an integrative healthcare clinic in San Rafael, California. Dr. Haas is author of a dozen popular books on health and nutrition, including Staying Healthy with the Seasons, Staying Healthy with Nutrition, The Detox Diet, Ultimate Immunity and, most recently, Staying Healthy with NEW Medicine.
As more of us are coming to realize, there is more to health than treating illness, and that the proverbial ounce of prevention — wellness assurance — is ultimately more efficient than health care insurance. In this lively and informative interview, Dr. Haas offers five simple and practical things that ANYONE can do to help move the dial toward wellness. You’ll also find out how a mainstream physician discovered and applied Eastern medicine, and how being in harmony with the seasons and our environment creates a healthier field.

Waking Up to “WE-ality” – We NEED Each Other
An Interview with Intentional Community Advocates and Activists Bill Kauth and Zoe Alowan
“We’re all one with the same One, totally unique just like everyone else.” — Swami Beyondananda
When I lived in Washington, D.C. in the 1970s, I knew someone who was a world-renowned expert on communal living.
Unfortunately, no one could stand to live with him.
As anyone who was part of the intentional community movement 40 or 50 years ago can attest, the challenge back then was to align the utopian ideal with the down-to-earth “real deal”. Not only were there the issues of many (often immature) egos, but the cultural changes as we’ve moved from a more communal rural existence to a more impersonal urban / suburban one.
However, these days there is a growing awareness that the ability to connect, cooperate and collaborate with each other is an evolutionary trait, key to our survival and thrival.
Our guests this week, Bill Kauth and Zoe Alowan, have spent the better part of their lifetimes in creative endeavor and service, and seeking to find elegant and effective ways to facilitate functional and nourishing community. Bill and Zoe are co-creators of the committed, non-residential Community they call “Tribe”. Together they have delivered more than 65 seminars around the world and co-authored the book “We Need Each Other”.
In 1984, Bill co-founded the New Warrior Training Adventure of the ManKind Project, which has initiated 80,000 men into healthy masculinity, all around the world.
He is the author of “A Circle of Men”, published by St. Martins Press, and now has the emeritus role of “Visionary-at-large” with ManKindProject, and sees the profound need for human reconnection.
Zoe has lived in community and been deeply engaged in sacred art for decades. As painter, dancer, songstress and storyteller, her work in women’s circles reclaims beauty and wisdom. She facilitates with humor, co-honoring the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine.
In this fast-paced and humorful conversation, Bill and Zoe explain why their community is intentional but NOT residential, and they speak frankly to the challenges of creating lasting community. You’ll find out what Bill discovered as a psychotherapist and how each has addressed and healed their “father wound” and “mother wound”. You’ll learn about the power of the “gift culture” in contrast to the extractor economy, and discover how community and service might be the most effective “anti-depressant” of all.
If you’re curious how you can bring this kind of community into your locale, please join us this Tuesday, September 18th at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET. : http://omtimes.com/iom/shows/wiki-politiki-radio-show/

Political Prisoner! – Would YOU Go to Prison for Your Beliefs?
An Interview with Johnny Light aka Johnny Liberty, One-Time Leader of the Sovereignty Movement
“Here’s an irony supplement to munch on — we need a police state to protect our freedom.” — Swami Beyondananda
Over the past couple of years, we’ve been hearing a lot about the “deep state”, and a “secret government” that really runs things beneath the polarizing puppet show we watch on the news.
On one end of the spectrum, we have authors like Mike Lofgren who acknowledge the interlocking directorate between corporations, the military industrial complex, the intelligence community, and government that has rendered the will of the people largely irrelevant.
On the other — and particularly since the advent of Trumpism — we have the “deep state” as the secret government that will enslave us through the “new world order”. There are even people I know who voted for Bernie Sanders in the primaries, and then for Donald Trump in the election because they fervently believed he was our last hope in liberating us from this “deep state.”
So, what’s true? Who’s right? Is there a deep state — and is it a threat to you and me, and to our freedom?
This week on Wiki Politiki, we interview Johnny Light aka Johnny Liberty, a one-time leader of the Sovereignty movement who spent two years in prison and three more on probation because his ideas and work ran afoul of the federal government.
Author of the bestseller “Global Sovereign’s Handbook”, Johnny Liberty is an innovative systems thinker, researcher, educator and speaker on individual sovereignty, freedom and liberty as well as history, law, economics, financial and business structures, and the nature of the global power structure. He has presented over 250 workshops and is known for his “Granada Forum” and Vision for a New America series of videos on YouTube.
You’ll hear for yourself his complete story of being hounded, isolated and finally imprisoned by the Federal Government, and of the plea bargain process that insures that justice is rarely done. And you’ll get to decide for yourself whether the punishment fit the crime.
Meanwhile, you will hear a compelling story of a creative pioneer looking to make a positive difference in the world, the corruption and hypocrisy he discovered, his lessons learned, and how he has reassembled a life of creativity and service.
